Florida Senator Doug Broxson and Escambia County Commissioner Steven Barry met with CSX Railroad officials and International Paper Tuesday to discuss trains that have been blocking local roads for extended periods of time. Senator Broxson said the first step will include real time communication between Escambia County and the railroad so County officials and emergency dispatchers will be able to contact a knowledgeable person and not have to wait for three days. Broxson and Barry learned that the tracks are not managed by CSX; they are operated by the Alabama & Gulf Coast Railway and they are expected to become involved in any solutions.
