SUSPECT RAMS DEPUTY’S CAR

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office said a Pensacola man has been arrested for fleeing police and ramming a patrol car. A Santa Rosa County Deputy tried to make a traffic stop on a car driven by 37-year-old Ray Clausell, who refused to stop. The deputy discontinued his pursuit for the safety of other motorists, but found Clausell at a fuel pump at the Tom Thumb on Avalon Boulevard a short time later.  Clausell rammed a car behind him, then struck the deputy’s car and drove off again. He eventually fled on foot from his car and ran across  I-10 into the woods where he was later apprehended by a K9 unit, and subdued with a taser. Clausell was driving on a suspended license and has a total of nine prior convictions. He was booked into the Santa Rosa County Jail on a $176,5000 bond.
