Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed an executive order to eliminate Common Core in Florida schools. The Governor has directed Florida’s education commissioner Richard Corcoran to create a new and improved set of educational standards to replace the current ones. Common Core was started in 2009 and was adopted by Florida and later revised as the Florida Standard. It has been controversial as some people have said the standards are too rigid. Conservatives in Florida said it represented more federal intrusion into public schools.
