WOMAN ARRESTED FOR ATTACKING DEPUTY

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office says a woman was arrested for attacking a deputy after she refused to leave a convenience store. It happened on Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard in Fort Walton Beach after the store clerk said she had been trying to get 33-year-old Tayanna Smith and another woman to leave the store. When a deputy tried to speak to Smith, she ran and when the deputy grabbed her shirt, she began punching him in the face. He used pepper spray and a bystander stepped in to provide help until backup arrived. Smith was arrested and charged with battery on an officer, resisting with violence, and trespassing. 30-year-old Jessica Vinson, was charged with trespassing and resisting arrest without violence.
