VISIT PENSACOLA SPENDING

Yesterday, Escambia County Commissioner Jeff Bergosh asked his fellow County Commissioners to postpone a routine budget amendment for the tourist promotion organization Visit Pensacola until he can investigate their spending. Bergosh said he is concerned that there may have been a $150,000 expenditure for a website that was made without the approval of Visit Pensacola’s board. Visit Pensacola Executive Director Steve Hayes said he was taken by surprise by Bergosh’s comments, and told the Pensacola News Journal he had no idea to what Bergosh was referring. Commissioners agreed to delay approving the budget amendment.
