RENAMING LEE SQUARE

The city of Pensacola’s Parks and Recreation Board is supporting Mayor Grover Robinson’s request to change the name of Lee Square back to Florida Square, its original name. The mayor also said that re-naming it Florida Square would be fitting for the upcoming 200th anniversary of Florida becoming a part of the United States. Robinson said the City Council should decide at its July 16the meeting whether to remove the Confederate monument and the Council will also discuss the renaming of Lee Square.
