SCHOOL OPENINGS MAY BE DELAYED

School Superintendents in three counties in Northwest Florida will be asking their school boards to delay the start of the school year. If approved, the Escambia County School District will delay the first day of school by two weeks with the first day for teachers Monday, August 17th, and the first day for students Monday, August 24th. Escambia County schools will also mandate the use of face coverings. Santa Rosa County schools are also likely delay their opening until August 24th and also require students to wear masks in situations where they are not able to practice social distancing. The first day of classes for Okaloosa County Schools would be delayed to Monday, August 31st if the school board approves.
