Congressman Matt Gaetz has denied violating House ethics rules by his use of taxpayer funds. Politico reported that Gaetz committed multiple potential infractions with certain spending practices including paying a speech-writing consultant $28,000 in tax dollars. Congressman Gaetz’s office says although the arrangement was approved by the necessary House authorities, a second review by the Finance Office determined that the services could not be contracted for in that fashion, and all funds were returned. Politico also claimed that Congressman Gaetz used a private company to install a private television studio in his father’s Niceville home at taxpayer expense. His office said the installation was done compliance with House rules.
