SANTA ROSA COUNTY TAX INCREASE

The Santa Rosa County School Board is considering a property tax increase to help offset a larger tax reduction imposed by the State. The State controls a portion of the school district’s overall millage rate, which it will reduce by about .14 mills this year. The school board discussed increasing the part of the millage it controls, which is capital outlay, increasing it 0.1 mills from 1.4 to 1.5. The move would help the district recoup $1.2 million while still keeping the overall millage rate lower than last year.
