The University of West Florida will have to return 2.4 million dollars it received from a statewide online learning program. UWF managed the Complete Florida Plus Program that utilized distance learning and library services across the state. UWF was authorized to collect a 5% administrative fee, and any unclaimed fees are stored in a carry forward fund. Last September State officials said UWF had withdrawn unclaimed fees from previous years. Charles Lydecker, chair of the Board of Governors’ Audit and Compliance Committee, said UWF should repay the money. Betsy Bowers, UWF vice president of finance and administration, told trustees the university has implemented new accounting controls.
