Former Escambia County Administrator Larry Newsom has died. Newsom, who was most recently city manager for Flagler Beach, passed away Sunday in a hospital in Palm Coast, Florida. The cause of death was not reported. Newsome was a longtime assistant county administrator and three times served as interim county administrator — 2010, 2012 and 2013. Newsom was interim county administrator during the BP oil spill in 2010 and the April 2014 floods when the county’s Central Booking and Detention Facility exploded. In 2016 he became city manager for Flagler Beach. Larry Newsome was 56.
