The Northwest Florida Dail News is reporting an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy who was the target of internal investigation has resigned. Deputy David Holt was placed on administrative leave and an inquiry begun after he sent an email to many within the Sheriff’s Office in response to an email from Undersheriff Steve Harker. Harker’s email warned employees against using social media to vent against people who speak out against law enforcement. Holt criticized the undersheriff for quoting biblical verses and said the Sheriff’s Office administration doesn’t listen to its employees. The investigative report found Holt in violation of a Sheriff’s Office general order against public criticism. Harker was cleared of all wrongdoing and Holt resigned on August 19th.
