WRECK SHUTS DOWN GARCON POINT BRIDGE

The Florida Highway Patrol says a 4-vehicle traffic crash shut down the Garcon Point Bridge for about two hours just before 9am yesterday morning. Troopers say one of the crash victims fled the scene on foot. The crash happened just before 9 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the bridge when a truck driven by a 51-year-old Pensacola man failed to stop for traffic, and rear-ended a car in front of him, which then hit pickup truck, driving it into an SUV in front of it. No injuries were reported and the bridge reopened just before 11 a.m.
