POSSIBLE WORLD-RECORD SAND DOLLAR

A resident from South Carolina was scuba-diving off Panama City and found a sand dollar that might be a world-record. 22-year-old Patrick Starosto, a senior at the University of South Carolina, said the sand dollar was submerged near wreckage of a sunken airplane about 6 miles off the coast and was almost 7 inches in diameter. While the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission certifies records for many marine species, it does not track sand dollar records. Starosto has since attempted to contact Guinness World Records for confirmation, but had not heard back from them.
