Florida Senators Rick Scott and Marco Rubio want Daylight Saving Time to be permanent. In September, the two senators introduced legislation that would keep the United States on DST through November of 2021. The bill failed but if it had been enacted it would have prevented the United States from “falling back” to Standard Time, and Americans would not change clocks in March 2021 when the United States springs forward to DST. In 2018 the Florida legislature passed year-round DST, but federal law would have had to be changed. More than 10 other states, have passed similar laws, and dozens more are considering it.
