Crews are still working to disassemble Pensacola’s Confederate monument and Pensacola Mayor Grover Robinson said Monday that the base of the monument with inscriptions honoring Confederate leaders and Confederate soldiers killed in the war will likely end up at St. John’s Cemetery. However, it’s unknown where other pieces of the monument, including the 8-foot statue of a Confederate soldier, will go. The City Council also approved changing the name of the park from Lee Square back to Florida Square, its original name.
