Florida residents passed Amendment 2 – barely – which increases the minimum wage of workers up to $15 per hour by 2026. Constitutional amendments in Florida need 60% of the vote and Amendment 2 received 60.8%. The Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association and the state’s Chamber of Commerce opposed the Amendment. The current minimum wage in Florida is $8.56 per hour, which will increase to $10 per hour by September 30th, 2021, then increase a dollar a year until it reaches $15 and hour.
