The Florida Department of Transportation wants a judge to reject the argument by the Garcon Point Bridge bondholders that the Department did not have the authority to suspend tolls on the Bridge. The department stopped collecting tolls in September while the bridge is been used as a detour route after runaway barges belonging to Skanska Construction caused severe damage to the new Pensacola Bay Bridge during Hurricane Sally. Representatives of bondholders have battled the state for years about inadequate toll revenue on the Garcon Point Bridge and argue that the department should be forced to reinstate the suspended tolls. A hearing will be held January 28th
