Escambia County wants to make sure that as many qualified people as possible will get a $3,000 check from its Family CARES grant program. More than 9,500 people applied for the grants in September, and the county budgeted enough funds to award 5,500 grants. However, not all those who were notified they qualified received checks. Deputy County Administrator Chips Kirschenfeld told Commissioners about 2,500 needed more documentation and had been contacted to notify them that their applications were missing documents. Commissioners asked county staff to reach out to those people one more time for the needed documents.
