Buying alcoholic beverages on Sundays in Escambia County may soon become easier. District 1 Commissioner Jeff Bergosh said he plans to present an ordinance that would allow alcohol sales to start at 7 a.m. on Sundays in unincorporated areas. Currently, retail alcohol sales are prohibited on Sundays between 2:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., except on Pensacola Beach and Perdido Key, where stores are allowed to sell alcohol beginning at 7 a.m. All four commissioners indicated they were supportive of the idea. County attorney Alison Rogers said an ordinance could have the first of the two required public hearings as early as the February 18th County Commission meeting.
