The Florida Department of Health has released statistics about who is getting the COVID-19 vaccine. So far, 23,675 people in Escambia County and 14,845 people in Santa Rosa County have received one or both of the required two shots of the vaccine. The Department says almost 60-percent of people getting the COVID-19 vaccine in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties are women and almost 70-percent are 65 or older. Data shows that a larger majority of people getting the vaccine are white – only 9-percent of people vaccinated in Escambia County and 2-percent of people vaccinated in Santa Rosa County are Black.
