HOMELESS EVICTION MORATORIUM

The Pensacola City Council has voted to pass a moratorium on evictions for the homeless in city limits. That means homeless people living in tents under Interstate-10 at the Hollice T. Williams Park will get to stay there for at least the next 90 days. Mayor Grover Robinson says the goal is to find a way to help individuals get shelter that’s not outside. The past several weeks, the city has been working to improve conditions at the encampment, adding Porta Potties and handwashing stations, but it’s unclear what will happen when the 90 days run out.
