Officials are warning parents of high school students of a new scam. Scammers posing as members of the College Board or other educational organizations have swindled families out of hundreds of dollars by tricking them into paying for fake SAT preparation materials that will supposedly help students make a higher score. The scammer often claims test prep materials were requested by the student and then asks for a deposit, claiming it will be refunded when the materials are returned. If parents provide their credit card details and address, the materials never arrive and the deposit is never refunded.
