President Joe Biden signed the American Rescue Plan into law last Thursday. 1.9 trillion dollars in COVID-19 stimulus money will be going to individuals and couples, but local governments will also receive. Escambia County will get 61.7 million dollars, the City of Pensacola 19.1 million, the City of Century 780,000 dollars. Santa Rosa County will get 35.7 million dollars, the City of Milton 4.4 million dollars, the City of Gulf Breeze 2.9 million and the city of Jay 270,000 dollars. The funds can be used to respond to the COVID pandemic or its negative economic impact. Each local government will receive half of the funds this year and the other half within a year of their first payment and have until 2024 to spend the money.
