The Escambia County Sheriff’s Department says a deputy shot and killed a man involved in an armed disturbance on Pensacola Beach last night. Deputies were dispatched the disturbance at the Surf and Sand Hotel on Fort Pickens Road around 7:15pm. An armed male suspect was reportedly assaulting a woman inside of a hotel room, but he refused all commands to surrender to deputies forcing deputies to shoot the suspect. The suspect was pronounced dead on the scene. No deputies were injured during the incident. Following normal procedure the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is handling the investigation.
