FLORIDA FLU CASES

The Florida Department of Health said that while flu activity is increasing statewide there are relatively few cases reported in Northwest Florida. A recent report shows flu activity in Escambia County, Santa Rosa, and Walton Counties was mild, while Okaloosa County showed no flu cases. However, cases are increasing in almost two-thirds of Florida counties. Florida Department of Health Escambia director, John J. Lanza recommends everyone over six months of age should get the flu shot, especially those with increased risk for flu-related complications. He said it takes about two weeks after vaccination to develop protection against the flu.
