RETIRED POLICE OFFICERS SOUGHT

The City of Pensacola wants rehire retired police officers. The plan would allow retired officers to work part time so more full-time officers can be on the streets. The Pensacola City Council is set to vote Thursday on an ordinance that will allow retired police officers under the city’s pension plan to come back and work on a part-time basis.  Pensacola Police Chief Tommi Lyter told the Pensacola News Journal the ordinance is needed because the current ordinance prevents police and fire retires from coming back to work part time while other city employees that use the Florida Retirement System are allowed to come back and work.
