The Florida Highway Patrol said a woman was killed in a head on collision Tuesday night on Highway 29, north of Morgan Cemetery Road in North Escambia County. Troopers say the woman was driving a sedan northbound in the southbound lane just before 10 p.m., and crashed head-on with an SUV driven by a 38-year-old Pensacola woman. The sedan caught fire and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV was transported by helicopter to a local hospital with serious injuries.
