The United States Geological Survey says a 3.8 magnitude earthquake occurred on the Florida/Alabama line at the north end of Santa Rosa County just after 10am yesterday morning. Residents in Jay, East Milton and even Navarre reported feeling the ground shake. It’s the first earthquake felt in the area since nine quakes hit the area between March7th and April 14th of last year. The quakes led to a call last year to end oil and natural gas drilling operations in Jay. Don Blakeman, a geophysicist at the National Earthquake Information Center with the United States Geological Survey, said a 3.8-magnitude quake is on the lower end of the severity spectrum.
