Jury trials are beginning again in Northwest Florida. Individual cases will be scheduled for trial in the First District with the first today in Okaloosa County. State Attorney Bill Eddins says it will only be more routine cases like grand theft, drug possession and battery going to trial and more complex cases like murders probably won’t be tried for another year. Eddins says when it comes to safety measures like wearing masks, defense attorneys are raising concerns over witnesses and jurors wearing them because it could keep them from being able to read the jurors’ and witnesses expressions and evaluate their credibility.
