In spite of concerns about the coronavirus pandemic the Bob Sikes Bridge was busier this Labor Day weekend compared to last year, with almost 6,000 more cars going to the Beach. From Friday through Monday, there were over 76,000 travelers with almost 22,000 on Saturday alone. But while more cars crossing the bridge this year, some Beach business owners say this was one of the toughest seasons ever since many do most of their business in the summer season.
