Lifeguards in Walton County are crediting a 44-year-old Marine Corps veteran with rescuing a man and his 12-year-old autistic nephew from rip currents off Princess Beach. Steven Jetton and his family were vacationing at a condominium on Miramar Beach. He and his family had his surfboard on Okaloosa Island’s Princess Beach when they saw two simmers in distress. As no one else was able to help Jetton used his surfboard to assist both swimmers until rescue personnel arrived with jet skis. It should be noted that double red flags were flying at the time, but many other swimmers were in the water as well.
