GULF POWER SOLAR TREES

In an effort to promote solar energy use to the public, Gulf Power will be placing what they are calling “solar trees” at the corner of Main and Reus streets, as well as a solar canopy at the parking lot of the Corinne Jones Resource Center at Sanders Beach. The solar “trees” are poles topped with solar panels that provide power and shade to a sidewalk area. Solar canopies are structures built above parking spaces with solar panels. The solar panels will become outdoor classrooms to help the public learn about solar energy. They will have QR codes on them so people can pull up information about Gulf Power’s solar energy efforts. Solar trees will also be installed at Wayside Park in Fort Walton and the Harbor Walk Village in Destin.
