VETERAN’S DAY OBSERVANCES

PENSACOLA                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   The Gulf Coast Veterans Advocacy Council has announced the annual Veterans Day Parade will take place in downtown Pensacola tomorrow at 10 a.m. Social distancing among spectators, as well as masks, are encouraged. The route will begin at West Garden and Spring streets for the lineup, which starts at 8 a.m. and the parade will end at Veterans Memorial Park at 9th Avenue and Bayfront Parkway. Also, because of  COVID-19 precautions, there will be no giveaways or thrown objects from participating vehicles.

DESTIN                                                                                                                                                                                                                                HarborWalk Village will hold a Veterans Day Celebration on the Harbor from 3-4:30 p.m. and will include historical remembrance and recognition of all branches of the services, patriotic entertainment and a vintage flyover air show.

DESTIN COMMONS                                                                                                                                                                                                                        The Emerald Coast Honor Games will host the fourth annual “Ruck 22” Emerald Coast Honor Games from 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 7 at Destin Commons to raise awareness for veterans and the “invisible wounds” they suffer as a result of multiple deployments and the transition to non-military life.

FORT WALTON BEACH                                                                                                                                                                                                                      A ceremony at Beal Memorial Cemetery will begin at 11 a.m., but Tom Rice, the chairman of the Veterans Tribute Tower Committee is asking people to stay away from this year’s ceremony because of cocerns about COVID-19. For those that do attend, social distancing is encouraged and 500 masks will be available. Guests are encouraged to bring a small bouquet to be placed in the Community Wreath during the ceremony. The ceremony will be live-streamed via the Beal Memorial Veterans Tribute Tower Facebook page and will also be live-streamed on the city of Fort Walton Beach Facebook page.

CRESTVIEW                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        A ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. in front of the Veteran’s Memorial at Courthouse Terrace.

MILTON                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             The Santa Rosa County Veterans Day celebration will include the annual memorial ceremony at the Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Plaza beginning at 11 a.m.
