GULF POWER TO RECOVER HURRICANE COSTS

Gulf Power has filed a proposal with the Florida Public Service Commission that would allow it to begin collecting an estimated 206 million dollars from customers to recoup costs stemming from Hurricane Sally. That extra charge would become on top of the fees Gulf customers are already paying for Hurricane Michael in 2018. Last year, residential customers began paying about 8 dollars more per month for charges related to Hurricane Michael for residential customers who use 1,000 kilowatt hours of electricity. The proposed Sally-related charges would add an additional $3 a month for those customers. The Hurricane Michael charge is estimated to continue until September 2023.
