Pensacola Mayor Grover Robinson the three major hospitals in Escambia County are at their highest level of people hospitalized for COVID-19 and he is urging the public to take the rise in cases seriously. Robinson declared a state of emergency in the city last week when the daily hospitalization rates reached 75 patients. The city’s mask ordinance remains in effect, but under Florida Governor DeSantis’ order the city can only take enforcement action against businesses and not individuals. The city has not issued any fines under the ordinance, preferring to send code enforcement officers to talk with business owners about the ordinance.
