TERM LIMITS BILL FOR ECUA

District 1 State Representative Michelle Salzman is drafting a bill that would impose term limits on the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority board and create a new oversight commission that would examine ECUA’s budget. Salzman said she believes a change is needed  following the 2018 grand jury report that said the ECUA board was “grossly negligent” in its supervision of the former executive director, Stephen Sorrell. It called for term limits and better oversight policies of the executive director. Salzman is going to file the bill as a “local bill,” which means it will likely easily pass the Legislature if a majority of the local delegation agrees.
