CONCEALED WEAPON PERMIT CHANGES

Two Pensacola area legislators are sponsoring bills that would make it legal to carry guns at churches with schools and would also limit the agricultural commissioner’s discretion over issuing concealed carry permits. District 3 State Representative Jayer Williamson, says he will make another attempt to pass an exemption that would allow concealed carry permit holders to carry guns at churches, synagogues or other religious institutions that share a property with schools. Williamson sponsored the legislation in 2020, but the bill failed to get a Senate sponsor. Meanwhile, District 2 State Representative Alex Andrade is sponsoring a bill that would restrict the agriculture commissioner’s discretion over processing concealed carry permits in the state.
