Escambia County officials say another 800 people who applied for an Escambia County Family CARES grant should be receiving their $3,000 checks soon. Deputy County Administrator Chips Kirschenfeld told commissioners that county staff had contacted about 1,500 applicants out of a total remaining 2,500, and of those contacted, about 800 have responded. The grants are intended to help people financially impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
