The Florida Department of Transportation says the Pensacola Bay Bridge will reopen next month, but only one lane in each direction will be open for the first mile from the Pensacola side. Two lanes in each direction will be open for the other two miles of the bridge. The speed limit will be temporarily set at 35 mph with March 22nd set as the date for reopening the bridge, but that is subject to change. A full reopening of the bridge is expected to be completed by the end of May. State Senator Doug Broxson said the suspensions of tolls on the Garcon Point Bridge are in place until March 12th through an executive order from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Broxson said he will push for the suspension to continue, despite limited travel returning to the Pensacola Bay Bridge, to avoid creating an unmanageable rush of traffic to the newly reopened bridge.
