ESCAMBIA COUNTY TO FUND ST ENGINEERING

Atmore Alabama Police have identified the pedestrian struck and killed by a train Wednesday afternoon in Atmore. 40-year-old Eric Smith, was hit about 1 p.m. by a westbound CSX train at the Martin Luther King Avenue railroad crossing, parallel to Highway 31 and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Walton County Sheriff’s Office says a body was found at Morrison Springs yesterday afternoon. The Walton County Sheriff’s Dive Team located the body – identified as 51-year-old John Thomas of DeFuniak Springs – in the water. The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation says estimated insured losses from Hurricane Michael have topped 5.5 billion dollars. 143,600 claims had been filed, and Bay County had the most reported claims, with 86,533. The Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Department says they have arrested a 51-year-old man for the murder of his mother-in-law.
