The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office says one man was killed and another man hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds. 4TH MURDER SUSPECT ARRESTED

A fourth suspect in a fatal triple shooting November 30th in Century has been arrested. 18-year-old E’monee Long was taken into custody in Brewton, Alabama and is awaiting extradition to Escambia County, Florida, to face charges including premeditated first-degree murder.  Three other people were charged in the days following the shooting. APALACHICOLA BAY OYSTER HARVESTING SHUT DOWN

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has shut down oyster harvesting in Apalachicola Bay through the end of 2025 because  of a dwindling oyster population. The area has historically produced 90% of the state’s oysters. The state is using a 20-million-dollar grant to help restore the bay and a portion of the oyster fishery.…MORE

COVID-19 VACCINES

The first COVID-19 vaccines arrived in Northwest Florida at the Naval Hospital yesterday. The military hospital is the first in Northwest Florida to receive doses of the vaccine. CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS ATTACKED

The Florida Department of Corrections says two correctional officers in Century were recently attacked by inmates in two separate incidents. Inmate Jamaal Dunbar struck an officer in the face. Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob wants to purchase 200 body cameras for his deputies Johnson using federal CARES Act funding.
