EXTORTION ARREST

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Department says a 34-year-old Elberta, Alabama man has been arrested for extorting $1,200 from a Pensacola businessman. GULF POWER CREWS TO TEXAS AND LOUISIANA

Gulf Power in Pensacola sent crews to Texas and Louisiana yesterday to help repair damage caused by Hurricane Laura. About 180 employees and contractors left around 6am yesterday morning. So far this year Gulf Power has assisted communities in Alabama, south Florida, and New Jersey.MORE

ECUA RATE INCREASE

The Emerald Coast Utilities Authority Board has approved a 2% sanitation rate increase on a 4-0 vote. District 5 member Larry Walker was absent. For a single-family residential customer with one 90 gallon or smaller container, their bill will increase by 38 cents. The rate increase goes into effect October 1st.MORE
