PENSACOLA GUN BUY-BACK PROGRAM

The City of Pensacola’s gun buyback program will offer no-questions-asked cash gift cards for three types of firearms that officials say are often associated with crimes in the community. GULF POWER BILLS MAY INCREASE

The Florida Public Service Commission may approve a proposal that would have Gulf Power customers paying 206 million dollars for costs related to Hurricane Sally. Under the proposal, a residential customer who uses 1,000 kilowatt hours of electricity a month would see a $3-a-month increase. The charges could appear on customers’ bills starting in March.MORE

PENSACOLA POLICE DEATH INVESTIGATION

The Pensacola Police Department says a body was found in the Bay near Scenic Highway between Manolete Street and Langley Avenue around 3 p.m. yesterday. People walking along the beach found the body.  The body has not been identified, and the investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of death.MORE

ECUA TERM LIMITS BILL WITHDRAWN

Freshman State Representative Michelle Salzman has withdrawn a bill that would have imposed term limits for members of the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority. Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons and hundreds of community members attended the reopening and ribbon cutting of the Molino Precinct on Saturday. ESCAMBIA COUNTY WINS PEANUT BUTTER CHALLENGE

Escambia County Extension has won the statewide 2020 Peanut Butter Challenge.
