The Naval Aviation Museum Foundation announced that most of the required vouchers have been purchased to allow the Blue Angels license plates to go into production. ECAT BUS CATCHES FIRE

An ECAT bus with two passengers onboard caught fire yesterday afternoon at Cordova Mall. The bus driver extinguished an electrical fire in the rear of the bus and was then transported by Escambia County EMS to a local hospital. No other injuries were reported and a relief bus was brought in to finish the route.MORE

“KEEP THE WREATH GREEN” UPDATE

Escambia County Fire Rescue has placed another red bulb on the “Keep the Wreath Green” fire safety wreath, bringing the total to eight residential structure fires so far during December. Florida gas prices increased an average of six cents last week and the state average for a gallon of regular unleaded reached $2.20 cents, the highest since March. The average price per gallon in Escambia County was $2.17, up from $2.13 a week ago.MORE

SANSKA BARGE BREAKS LOOSE…AGAIN

The Florida Department of Transportation says a construction barge belonging to Sanska USA broke loose Saturday night and ended up stuck against some private docks on the Gulf Breeze side of Pensacola Bay. There were no reports of damage. A Sanska spokesperson said happened around 9 p.m. Saturday when an anchor line apparently was severed.…MORE

ESCAMBIA COUNTY UNEMPLOYMENT RATE

The unemployment rate in Escambia County increased half a point in November. The unemployment rate was 5.9% in November, up from 5.4% in October.
